Cincy will not get into the top 4. I highly doubt they'll get there all season because the CFP does not like the Group of 5.

I lived in Pennsylvania for too long to root for Penn State, especially since I moved back to NY about 5 months before the shit hit the fan there.

Inspired by this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/q18s9q/what_stadium_experiences_will_we_never_see_again/), here are some ways I'd improve CFB:
- Bring back rivalry games - Backyard Brawl, Texas-Texas A&M, Border War
- Yearly OOC games - Alabama-Penn State, Georgia-Clemson, Oklahoma-Nebraska
- No neutral site games, only home and homes
- Important bowl games - Not really sure how to do this but goodness winning the Rose Bowl shouldn't be a disappointing season.
- Rushing the field after upsets - SEC fines schools because I guess it's too fun
- 9 conference games, rotating divisions (so each recruiting class can play at every conference stadium within 4 years)
- Shorter games, cheaper ticket prices
- Dixieland Delight uncensored
- Gus Johnson in the SEC (Please... we'll trade Gary Danielson)
Does anyone else have any ideas?

Power 5 Break off from the NCAA and form your own governing body.
Pay all players $15 an hour for all the time they spend at practice, games, or in team meetings (minimum of 20 hours a week paid).
Ban all Power 5 teams from playing FCS schools. If they schedule an FCS school it is an automatic loss on your record regardless of outcome.
8 team playoff effective immediately. All 5 conference champions are guaranteed a spot in the tournament and 3 non-champions, with no more than 2 teams from a conference.
Force Notre Dame to join a conference if they want to play in the CFP (Regionally it would be the B1G).
re-regionalize conferences and start Revenue Sharing for the Media Rights deals among all the Power 5 Conferences (this will naturally bring back rivalries).
Stop letting schools make their own schedule. The governing body of College football schedules 4 non-conference games (Weeks 1, 2, 8, and 9), and the conferences schedule 9 conference games and bye weeks (all other weeks).
Eliminate Conference Championship games entirely. No teams should get more games than others if they want to play for the Championship.
Non-Conference games are scheduled by the governing body and are scheduled based on how good they were the previous year. The champion of the conference plays the other 4 conference champions the next year, runner up plays the runners up, etc (just like the NFL does with their scheduling). At least one home and one road non-conference game MUST be on-campus.

Alabama hasn't trailed in a game since Jaylen Waddle's 90 yard TD against Georgia, 57 quarters ago.
The record for most consecutive quarters without trailing is 73, set by Michigan in the 1940s (not far from the last time they beat Ohio State)
Alabama's next 5 opponents are Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Tennessee, LSU, and New Mexico State. I hope I'm not jinxing this.

Pete Golding needs to be fired immediately. 3 1/2 of underperforming on defense is enough.
BestSportsEntertainer
10-09-2021, 11:39 PM
I'm sick of the excuses for Pete Golding.
Kentucky held Florida to 13 points and 4.4 YPC
Alabama held Florida to 29 points and 5.7 YPC
So either Kentucky has more talent or they're better coached. It's pretty obvious which one it is. Kentucky hasn't recruited a 5* player in at least 4 years. Alabama signed 7 in 2021 alone.
Fire Pete Golding to have any shot this season. The GOAT offense from 2020 is in the NFL.
BestSportsEntertainer
10-10-2021, 08:09 AM
Some thoughts on Alabama so far this season:
- Bryce Young is a clear step down from Tua and Mac, which isn't surprising.
- Our deep passing game hasn't clicked. It was 12th in the SEC 2 weeks ago, and I doubt it's gotten much better.
- Brian Robinson is elite and reminds you of Derrick Henry.
- Thank goodness Jameson Williams transferred in because he's been our best WR. John Metchie has disappointed.
- RT Chris Owens isn't good and that's being gentle. MERCER was getting instant pressure.
- Bill O'Brien's playcalling leaves a lot to be desired. We had the ball at A&M's 4 yard line, called 3 passes, and settled for a FG.
Overall the offense has still been really good. Our biggest problem is the defense. Players are constantly out of position and missing tackles, and coaching deserves most of the blame. DC Pete Golding should be fired. We've underperformed on defense throughout his 4 years here, so it's not like this is a one-off.
2018 Arkansas - The Razorbacks were in the middle of a 19 game losing streak against the SEC and still scored 30.
2018 Georgia - Jake Fromm had his best game of the season.
2018 Clemson - Scored 44 and could've easily scored 50+
2019 LSU - One of the best offenses ever who scored on everyone so can't be too mad here.
2019 Auburn - BO NIX led Auburn to 34 points and the win.
2020 Florida - 46 points. Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Tennessee, and LSU all held Florida under 40.
2021 Florida - 13 points vs. Kentucky. 29 points and a failed 2PC from tying Alabama late in the 4th.
2021 Texas A&M - A&M scored 10 points against 1-4 Colorado and 42 points combined against Colorado, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.
2020 Ole Miss - 10 drives, 6 TD, 2 FG, 2 punts. (3 TD, 2 FG in the second half)
However one of their punts was because they lost 18 yards on a bad snap. One of their FGs was because they lost 5 yards on 3rd down on another bad snap. It could've easily been 7 or 8 TD, 1 or 2 FG, 1 punt. The Ole Miss center literally stopped their offense more than our defense did. I remember when everyone panicked when we gave up 14 points to Ole Miss in 2012. Times have obviously changed, but Georgia is proving you can still play elite defense.

You'll never see an NFL rivalry like The Game, Iron Bowl, or Red River Shootout. You'll never see an NFL tradition like Dixieland Delight, the Penn State whiteout, or the Wisconsin jump around. You'll never see NFL fans storm the field and tear down a goalpost.
Arguably the 3 most exciting football games of last weekend all happened on the same day right after another. To begin the day, #6 Oklahoma defeated #21 Texas in a shootout by erasing a 21 point first quarter deficit and benching the pre-season Heisman favorite. Then #3 Iowa defeated #4 Penn State in a defensive struggle. To end the night, Texas A&M defeated #1 Alabama on a last play FG, giving Alabama their first loss to an unranked team in 14 years.
Meanwhile perennial SEC basement dweller Kentucky dominated perennial powerhouse LSU. Wake Forest defeated Syracuse in OT for their first 6-0 start since 1944. Ole Miss went for it on 4th down 5/9 times to win a shootout over Arkansas, who's 4-2 and looks genuinely good after losing 20 consecutive SEC games. Georgia is playing the best defense played since probably 2011.
The NFL will never match the passion and excitement of CFB.

The 5 years before Gruden the Bucs were 48-32, with 4 playoff appearances (Tony Dungy years 2-6). Dungy for his Tampa career is 54-42 (with only his first year a losing season)
Gruden was 57-55 for his career in Tampa with 3 playoff appearances, and 3 losing seasons.
Tony Dungy built a winner. Gruden won a championship with Dungy's team then dismantled it.
Hell, for his career Gruden is 117-112. He's barely over .500 for his career, and in his 16 full seasons as a coach he only was over .500 6 times. Overrated coach, who never should have left the broadcast booth.

Heisman contender Matt Corral ran for 195 yards in one of the most entertaining shitshows of a football game you'll ever see. Unranked Purdue upset #2 Iowa. Oklahoma's new QB Caleb Williams had 5 TDs and 5 incompletions. LSU upset Florida in a shootout. Clemson survived Syracuse. Georgia's defense dominated again. Oklahoma State overcame deficits of 17-3 and 24-13 to defeat Texas and remain unbeaten. 7-0 #10 Michigan State survived 2-3 Indiana. Nebraska lost another close game.

What is the biggest accomplishment in college football? The National Championship? The Sugar Bowl? The Rose Bowl? Winning your conference?
None of those things, according to former Tennessee HC Butch Jones. On November 21, 2016, Butch Jones claimed Tennessee's seniors had won the biggest championship: the championship of life. Tennessee underachieved in 2015 and 2016 and then went 0-8 against the SEC in 2017, but who cares about football? They were champions of life.
The updated standings:
1 - Tennessee - N/A
2 - Vanderbilt - 11/26/16
3 - NC State - 12/26/16
4 - South Carolina - 9/2/17
5 - Kentucky - 9/16/17
6 - Florida - 9/23/17
7 - LSU - 10/7/17
8 - Alabama - 11/4/17
9 - Auburn - 11/25/17
10 - UCF - 1/1/18
11 - LSU - 1/1/19 - The first 2x winner and first team to be champions of life an entire season.
12 - Mississippi State - 9/26/20
13 - Arkansas - 10/3/20 - Arkansas lost to Auburn on a bad call, so I'm not counting it.
14 - Texas A&M - 10/31/20
15 - Arkansas - 9/25/21
16 - Georgia - 10/2/21 - First championship since 1980!

He's cheap, willing to be on a practice squad, and is capable of coming in and being competent.

Why was this non-conference?
They got tired of waiting to play each other.
The ACC and SEC each have 14 teams, 8 conference games, divisions, and a permanent cross-division game.
For example, each year Alabama plays Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, MSU, Ole Miss, and TA&M from the West and Tennessee from the East. The last conference game rotates every 6 years between Florida, Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. So it takes 12 years to play in every stadium in the conference.

I now join Trooper's and BSE's teams with one loss.

Texas is having an awful season:
vs Oklahoma - Led 28-7 in 1Q, outscored 48-20, lost 55-48
vs Oklahoma State - Led 24-13 in 3Q, outscored 19-0, lost 32-24
vs Baylor - Led 21-10 in 3Q, outscored 21-3, lost 31-24
vs Iowa State - Lost 30-7
vs Kansas - Gave 1-8 Kansas their first FBS win and only 4th win vs Big 12 in 6 years.
Since 2015, Kansas is 2-3 vs Texas and 2-45 vs the rest of the Big 12.

Should the Browns pay Baker Mayfield?

Should the Browns pay Baker Mayfield?
Well they're contractually obligated to pay him, so yes they should.
But if the question is should they give him a new contract? I think it's a difficult question. Is he better than what is gonna be available? I bet he will be. Browns are still a pretty good team so they won't be drafting early to replace him at QB.

More Texas fun facts!
- First time ever Texas has allowed 30+ points in 6 consecutive games
- First 6 game losing streak since 1956
- Texas has 52 blue chip recruits on their roster. West Virginia only has 5.
- Tom Herman never lost more than 2 games in a row.
- Steve Sarkisian is the first Texas coach with a losing season in his first season since Dana Bible in 1937.
- Texas spent about $60M to buy out Tom Herman and hire Steve Sarkisian.

Texas must have loved that coach. Named after their favorite book.
Meanwhile, next weeks CFP poll:
1. Georgia
2. Bama
3. Ohio State
4. Cincinnati
5. Michigan
6. Notre Dame.
1 and 2 will play. 3 and 5 will play.
Georgia beats Bama (especially handily) and Ohio State does what it does against Michigan, and guess who jumps to 4?

Against the Big Ten, Nebraska is 1-7 with a +7 point differential.
It doesn't matter if Nebraska is playing Georgia or UConn, they're going to lose a close game.

That MSU win over Michigan was a fluke.

1. Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Bama
4. Cincinatti
5. Michigan
6. Notre Dame
7. Oklahoma State
With Ohio State getting decimated they're eliminated from the CFP (they should be at no higher than 6 but more likely 7). Michigan will jump to 3 (they should be at 4 behind Cincinatti but the CFP won't do that).
If Bama loses the SEC Championship they're at 2 losses, they're done (especially with a bad showing today).
Notre Dame could backdoor into the CFP.

Oh man imagine if Big E's Iowa Hawkeyes beat Michigan in the B One G Championship Game? Michigan would be out too. In that case we'd see Georgia, Cincinatti, Notre Dame, and Big 12 Champ.
Of course Cincinatti needs to win next week too.

How Kyren Williams wasn't a finalist for the Doak Walker is beyond me.
Don't get me wrong he's probably going to end up being the frontrunner next year. And he'll likely be a top back off the draft board in 2023 (or 2024 if he stays for his senior season).
