AJ Styles (c) versus John Cena versus Baron Corbin versus Dolph Ziggler versus Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn

So many different angles and stories around this match make it a pretty interesting part of the Fastlane PPV. Outwith it being the main event of the show, the intrigue is heightened by the ongoing storyline between Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn and Shane McMahon/Daniel Bryan.

John Cena reared his ugly head to force his way into the match last night on Smackdown too. Instead of giving him a match with Nakamura, the WWE have decided to put him right into the mix for the WWE Championship. Logic? What the fuck is that?

Either way, Cena is in the match and now the shadow looms large over the title match. Could Cena actually win it and go onto face Nakamura at WrestleMania? It sure would free up Styles to take on Owens or Zayn at Mania and wrap up that particular angle.

Very worrying indeed.

Styles vs. Nakamura's a lock. Its a dream match, at the Rumble they outright said Nak is challenging for that title because Styles holds it and put the marketing machine in effect based around those ideas. They've also been teasing it in matches as far back as May/June last year. AJ's walking out with the title.

Cena's just a red herring. As you said Dave, he'd be better served putting Nakamura over en-route to Mania (it also makes more sense storyline wise - fight one guy for a guaranteed spot at Mania, fight five other dudes for the same privilege...what sort of logic is that?), but he's here essentially to make us question whether Styles will win (because no one believed any of the other candidates would).

Ziggler and Corbin are there for some reason I'm still trying to figure out. Both men will be relegated to midcard fodder, if not lesser, come Mania and I don't think the crowd really cares about either man. The disdain for Ziggler is well covered, but Corbin is even more bemusing; his whole shtick is he can't win in spite of his ridiculous size, power and speed advantages. Why is he in a world title match he didn't earn?

Zayn and Owens is where the intrigue properly lies. Will they implode, will they get screwed by Shane again, will Bryan get involved one way or another? And what are they doing at Mania, because this has been the #1 story on SmackDown for months now and it requires some form of big pay-off.

It's not really a dream match, certainly not for WWE anyway.

And for smarks, it has already happened just over two years ago at WK10.

Why don't we just make the entire show a huge cluster of a match with the entire roster involved? Heck let's just add in section 104 and make it EVEN BIGGER!

I can't stand this ultra lazy match making. There's no personal story here and it's just throwing the majority of the upper midcard into a match with the title on the line. That's the kind of thing you expect at a lame indy promotion, not on a WWE pay per view. Would it be that ridiculous to have Nakamura fighting one of these people at the pay per view to build him up for Styles? Or does this match really need Corbin AND Ziggler in there as people who aren't going to win? There comes a point where the amount of people gets stupid and that was the case as soon as it became bigger than a four way match. Or a triple threat if you're more rational.

Why not do Nakamura Vs. Cena at Fastlane instead of putting Cena in this already match where there are already 5 participants. Already too many so let's add another one.

I think that AJ Styles will retain. However, there's a certain fear in my mind that they could just be teasing AJ Styles Vs. Nakamura and not actually have it. I hope that AJ Styles still retains.
