Gone too soon: Nicholas, RAW Tag Team Champion - April 8th 2018-April 9th 2018 (oh and some Braun guy was there too)

So last week was somewhat eventful for the red brand. Stephanie McMahon appears to have been written off TV for the foreseeable future (hurrah!) after Ronda Rousey relocated her arm to a less comfortable part of the body. Unfortunately there are 'consequences' being teased for Rousey tonight - possibly Angle too via his association with the "Rowdy" one - so maybe we should all hold back on those celebrations (boo!). Elsewhere there was a retirement from the ring by Paige...who subsequently appeared 24 hours later as the new SmackDown Live GM (alrighty then) and a title reclaimed by the most prolific holder in history (vacant).

Then there was the litany of returns and debuts including Samoa Joe cutting a beastly promo calling Roman Reigns a punk and habitual loser*, Jeff Hardy entering himself into the Intercontinental Championship picture, Ember Moon eclipsing (eh, EH?!?) Alexa Bliss, No Way Jose arriving on the scene, the Authors of Pain living up their moniker (whilst ditching their manager Paul Ellering) and Bobby bleedin' Lashley! That got 'em excited for sure.

Tonight though, the shock value and twists continue as it's night one of the Draft Superstar Shakeup! Tonight we learn which members of SmackDown Live will be moved across to ply their trade on Monday Nights going forward. Last year Dean Ambrose brought the Intercontinental Championship across from Tuesday's, could Jinder Mahal do a similar trick with the United States Championship? Maybe we'll see his opponent for Backlash - Randy Orton - be rejuvenated with a new show and a new purpose? Charlotte is now without prestigious gold, does this clear the way for her return to RAW? How about Tag Team's? And of course, maybe a YES(!) man is what Monday's truly need?

So yeah, WWE is not only getting a lot of money but I imagine that Vince will try, at various points, to spin this in a way to make it seem like WWE is helping to instigate important social changes in Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, Saudi Arabia doesn't exactly have a sterling history of equality among the sexes. I will say, however, that some things are starting to change. If I'm not mistaken, women are allowed to drive there now and girls in school will now be taught health just as the boys are. I know that doesn't sound like much to be impressed by, but they're steps in the right direction. They have a very, very, very long way to go and there's no telling when or if some of the social and economic goals they're going for will be stopped in its tracks under different political regimes.

She's quite good, too. In the sense that you never want to notice the referees, she's great. She's even done a few of the men's matches on NXT and I don't notice until she's raised the winners hand.
