RAW wasn't the only brand whose main title match ended in disappointing fashion this past Friday in the "Beautiful City of Jeddah". Shinsuke Nakamura finally got some comeuppance after weeks of giving AJ Styles the ol' Australian uppercut as the Phenomenal One lost his temper and beat his former comrade turned nemesis down to the tune of a double countout. The result? Another match between the two at this Sunday's Backlash show. Has AJ once again let his emotions get the better of him? With the master of the (EC3 coined) Peenshasa be able to get the edge and prove that he is, just as his new entrance music suggests - number one?!? We'll just have to tune in to the Blue brand to find out.
Elsewhere, while Braun Strowman was breaking elimination records, Daniel Bryan was breaking endurance records, lasting the longest time in a Royal Rumble ever, smashing Rey Mysterio's previous record by clocking in at one hour, sixteen minutes and five seconds. His run was ended by a certain seven foot New York native who will face off with B-Dazzle this past Sunday. Can Bryan mount a comeback in this, so far, fairly one sided feud? Samoa Joe also has a big match this Sunday opposite the largest of canines when faces Roman Reigns one on one. Expect straight fire to come from the Samoan Submission Machine's mouth as always. And then there's the situation involving Charlotte, Carmella, the Iiconics and the SmackDown Women's Championship. Whose gonna' get the edge heading into Sunday?
Actually...SmackDown's side of the Backlash card is fairly well set up with Miz getting his rematch for the Intercontinental Championship and an obvious United States Championship match set to take place too. Huh, good for them. Anyway, tune in to see who gets that all important momentum headed into Newark!
