It tends to attract a much different type of fan than the main roster, and that can give them a false sense of what a wrestler will be to bigger audiences. They’ve had more failures than they have had successes from Trips’ led NXT because of it.

There are two different kinds of NXT. The NXT TV show/Takeover/house show aren't developmental. That's a holding tank/finishing school for the new signees before they come up to the main roster. Now the Florida circuit where the really newcomers spend a long time is developmental, because it's as low level of a territory as you can get while still being in WWE. That difference has become a lot more prominent in recent years as NXT has become its own thing.
