Kurt Angle has been floundering with nothing to do since his stint as Raw GM awhile ago. Corbin beating him seems to be the icing on the cake and now he's talking about Chris Benoit freely and an announcement coming soon. Is it true? Is it damn true?

If he was going to be released, I don't think that WWE would advertise his announcement.

I think that it's more of a retirement speech only to be confronted by someone like Drew McIntyre for a WrestleMania match.

Just seems like talking about Chris Benoit is a big no no in Vince's world so I imagined Kurt not caring at this point if he was about to be released or retiring.

I remember he mentioned Benoit before not too long ago. An interviewer asked him who his favorite opponent was and he pretty much lauded Benoit. If they didn't have a problem then, I doubt they have a problem with it now.

I doubt Angle mentioning Benoit has garnered him any sort of heat. I get that WWE can't come out and honor Benoit because of what happened but this summer will mark 12 years since the murder-suicide and pretending that he didn't exist after all this time is just kind of silly. It's not as though saying his name in front of an interviewer is going to cause Benoit to appear behind interviewer and gut him or strangle him or whatever other little Candyman-esque horror scenario comes to mind.

Maybe he's retiring altogether, maybe he's joining the commentary team, maybe he's heading down to NXT as a coach or trainer, etc.. Personally, I think Angle's grappling and submission knowledge could be a great addition to the trainers in NXT.

It's leading to his Ric Flair finale. Two PPV victories followed by a vow of retirement if he can't win at WrestleMania.

My sentiments exactly. I imagine he beats Corbin at the Chamber, McIntyre to avenge his loss at Fastlane and maybe does the job to Braun to pay it all off. Whereas Flair's was can I hang with the best ala the loss to HBK, maybe Angle's will be can I beat the biggest? Or, y'know, they stick him with AJ and we re-run Flair's loss to the best.
