So, this is something that I thought about some days ago, with all this buzz that Becky Lynch has gotten. You have Ronda Rousey, who is ultra popular and Becky Lynch, who must be the most over babyface on the entire roster right now. Which is insane, if you think about it. A female wrestler is your most over "guy". The man, as she says. The whole Charlotte-Ronda-Becky (and maybe Stephanie) angle, will probably main event Wrestlemania and if it doesn't, it will be one og the headlining matches. So the question is simple:

Roman Reigns is gone. WWE wasted 4 years trying to make him the MAN, it never worked and now he's out fighting Leukemia (let's hope he kicks its ass). Braun Strowman is botched. He's nowhere near the reactions he once was and he doens't seem to be seen as a top project yet. AJ Styles is there, but WWE won't really get behind AJ as the top guy. The only option really is Seth Rollins, but for some reason Seth doesn't strike me as someone who can put butts in the seat and can reach the levels of Cena, for example. (Neither did Roman but that's another thing). Let's not forget that Rollins has been in main event feuds since his debut and that's about 6-7 years now. He's not really getting any higher and he already peaked once back in 2015.

So, could the women become the main attraction for WWE? And to take it a step further, could a female wrestler, for example Becky Lynch, become the face of the company?

PS: Please don't mention the notion of "a WWE without one top guy is better, why push one above all?" etc.. I agree with this, but for the sake of discussion let's just discuss if a female performer could become what Vince has been looking for, for possibly the past 5 years. The man. And also, could that man be, Becky Lynch?

Yes, of course they could. A 10 year old boy won the WWE Tag Team titles last year at Wrestlemania. If Vince McMahon wants to book something, then he'll do it regardless of things like ticket sales, ratings, fan approval, logic. All of these things are meaningless as the next to him.

The question you probably wanted to ask is "would it be an enjoyable thing to watch?" and the answer is probably not. Ratings have shown that people generally aren't tuning in for the women, strangely enough teenage girls of all demographics are not interested at all. Whether it be due to societal stereotyping or the lack of support for it, women's wrestling has generally sucked and is graded on a massive curve. The matches aren't very good and the promos are even worse. I'm of the insane belief that you should probably put your best product as your main event and focal point, and although it has improved leaps and bounds in the past five years, it's still not the women's division.

The world seems to be wandering away from the delusion that if we let women do something of major significance, like vote for example, that it'll be a slippery slope and they'll eventually enslave men in some kind of Showtime after-dark softcore porno. A lot of women shared in that delusion that it would be stupid to give power to a woman.

Becky is unique enough to where she's able to fill the void that Stone Cold left without actually resembling him. With Becky, you have someone who checks the necessary boxes to be over on the main card. She's fun, funny, exciting, witty, and she shows believable passion. On top of all that, she's playing a character that we fans weren't "supposed" to enjoy. When Becky attacked Charlotte many moons ago, the fans cheered because (for one of many reasons) they were sick of seeing someone with Becky's level of popularity and capability be used as Charlottes foil for the thousandth time. That smidgeon of happenstance where cheering for Becky wasn't supposed to happen matters in a big way toward getting the fans to solidly back a character.

Ronda? She's fucking weird dude. What she really has going for her, in my mind, is that she's the WWE's second coming of Mike Tyson. She already proved that she can dominate the (CM Punk destroying) world of combat sports, and she also proved that she's awkward as fuck when it comes to being social. Playing her off Becky is a huge test for Becky, and I think that they're both benefitting from the dynamic where nobody knows what in the hell is going to happen.

When it comes to potential in prowrestling, what male wrestler compares to either Becky or Ronda? The Shield reunited for the second(?) time, bless Roman's heart, and I really don't care who wins their match against some randomly slapped together trio at Fastlane. Brock is out being Brock somewhere. Bobby Lashley wants us all to admire his butt. I had to think for a little while to remember that R-Truth is the US Champion, which leaves basically nothing for Rusev and Shinsuke. Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, and Kevin Owens are all feuding over a WWE Championship that the WWE apparently doesn't care about.

Hell, I'd put Charlotte and Asuka higher that the male talent in terms of potential.
