Makes sense. Having a guy like Angle around is definitely a good thing.

Angle's legitimately a top tier guy who is taking this position because he wants to and not because he has to. I've read reports that Vince puts more stock the recommendations and words of producers who were guys who took care of their money rather than being a broken down, mostly penniless 40-50+ year old has-been who pissed it all away because he made the same mistakes as others before him. If you listen to the Iron Shiek, for instance, and IF what he says was true, he was averaging somewhere around $700,000 per year when he was in WWE, which was pretty damn massive considering the average annual salary in the US during the mid to late 80s ranged from a little over $16,000 to $18,500 per year.
Primarily, however, they're probably giving Angle a pretty hefty salary for a producer as a means of keeping him with the company and out of reach of AEW. It's obvious that Angle's best days in the ring are well behind him but he still has the brand value of his name. So yeah, since Vince is throwing all this money around, much of it to people he doesn't really even want but wants the competition to have them even less, then Angle might as well grab up as much of it as he can.

Good. Have him stay home with the WWE. No more matches but keep him in-house.
