I'll never be able to bring myself to dislike The Last Jedi if only because it's a middle finger to JJ Abrams' "puzzle box" style of storytelling that has became so excruciatingly prevalent in science fiction. I'm dreading Episode IX but at least Johnson has forced Abrams' hand enough that he can't just remake Return of the Jedi - I hope.
I'd be surprised if I end up seeing Solo - the big surprise has already been spoiled for me, and I find it funny rather than interesting - but I am full of surprises.

May:
☆☆☆☆ A Fistful of Dollars
☆☆☆ Lean on Pete, Deadpool 2, I Feel Pretty and The Strangers: Prey At Night
☆☆ Show Dogs, Solo: A Star Wars Story, 120BPM, Redoubtable, Sherlock Gnomes, Breaking In and Life of The Party
Plus those 19 I saw at the festival. Long month. When's summer over?

Fuck knows. Not to be overly British about the whole thing but it's just been humidity and thunder storms for the most part. Miserable.
The next ticket I have for a film is Richard Ayoade presenting a 35mm screening of Roadhouse. I even paid the extra fiver to meet him and have him sign a book. Dare I tell him that I actually very much enjoyed both Submarine and The Double, or should I just nervously yell a line from The IT Crowd?
-
I have never seen The Double or Submarine or The I.T. Crowd, but I know who he is.

I like them all. And Gadget Man. And The Crystal Maze. You can imagine how daunting it'll be for me to be in the presence of a man with such a Midas touch.
-
The new Crystal Maze is an abomination.
-
As someone who never watched the original, I know for a fact that it is undoubtedly better than the original and you are an old man.
-
It's exactly the same but new.

Sacrificed my principles and booked tickets to Jurassic World tomorrow night because my brother really wanted to see it and opportunities for male bonding are so rare these days. It'll be nice to not award something three stars I guess.
-
I hated it.
I've seen it 3 times.
