Rogers choked vs Tampa. That's all I have to add to this.
Vanderbilt football has a higher winning percentage than Mississippi State.
The Buccaneers and Cowboys will kick off the 2021 season on Thursday Night Football
The Buccaneers are the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Cowboys are.... the Cowboys.
The Cowboys are:
- America's Team
- The most valuable franchise in American sports.
- an intriguing team with a bunch of high-powered offensive weapons, and a QB in his first game back from a traumatic leg injury.
More importantly, I get to wake up early to watch my Jets on 10 October 2021 play the Falcons in London.
Exactly, the Cowboys. A massive brand and following they haven't deserved since the 90s.
From an on-field standpoint: Since 2000, they're the 11th winningest team in the league. They field a competitive team year in and year out. When you consider that schedules are made prior to the season and you don't know what you're gonna get from most teams, the teams consistently competitive will get more primetime matchups. That's why teams like the Cowboys, the Steelers, the Brady/Belichick Pats were all on prime time a lot. You knew what you were gonna get.
From a financial standpoint: They're the biggest brand because they have the biggest following, and continue to do so even though they have not won a championship in the past 25 years. Their fans support the team in highs and lows. The Patriots following will greatly die down in the next few years once Belichick retired. The Bucs following will dwindle once Brady's gone. Same with most every other team. The NFL is a business, the Cowboys bring ratings, therefore the Cowboys getting prime real estate is Best For Business.
And of course this is prime real estate for LOSING for the Cowboys, as the Super Bowl winner opening the season on Thursdays is more often than not a winner.
Since 2000
DAL - 3 playoff wins (T-26th), 6 10-win seasons, 6 losing seasons, 0 rings
PIT - 15 playoff wins (3rd), 13 10-win seasons, 1 losing season, 2 rings
NE - 30 playoff wins (1st), 18 10-win seasons, 1 losing season, 6 rings
Since Dak's rookie season, he's 15-3 vs the NFC East and 14-22 vs the rest of the NFL. The Cowboys are an average to below average team in a really bad division. They hired the coach who could no longer win with Aaron Rodgers, who's since went 26-6 and won his 3rd MVP.
