^ Still shocked Tennessee finished 8-5 after that horrible start.
Bill Vinovich made the worst non-call in NFL history, and the next year he's rewarded with the Super Bowl.
Just in case anyone thought the NFL cared about its poor officiating.
My college football decade awards. These are just my opinion, but I expect a call from ESPN soon.
Best Coach - Nick Saban
Yep.
Worst Coach - Ellis Johnson
He took over a 12-2 Southern Miss team with 13 returning starters and went 0-12.
Best Team - 2019 LSU
Their defense struggled at times, but they defeated 5 top-10 teams and 4 of those teams by 14+ points.
Best Team That Didn't Win The National Championship - 2011 LSU
They defeated the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Cotton Bowl champions and the eventual National Champion on the road. 2015 Ohio State arguably had the most potential, but for whatever reason, it never came together.
Best Player - Cam Newton
He was as close to a one-man National Championship as you'll ever see. Only 3 other starters were drafted, and no RB, WR, or TE had a single touch in the NFL. HC Gene Chizik went 8-5 in 2011 and 3-9 (0-8 vs the SEC) in 2012, Auburn's worst season in 60 years. Recency bias suggests Joe Burrow, but he had a far better supporting cast and coaching staff.
Best Transfer - Joe Burrow
He threw 60 TDs, led the 3rd highest scoring offense of all time, and won a National Championship.
Best Game - Alabama vs Georgia 2017 National Championship
Call me biased, but this should at least be in everyone's Top 10. Both teams suffered a bad loss to Auburn but rebounded to make the playoffs. In the first round, Alabama got revenge against Clemson, holding them to only 6 points. Georgia defeated Oklahoma 54-48 in 2OT. Alabama had won 4 titles in 8 years; Georgia hadn't won since 1980.
The game itself had everything: Georgia dominating the first half and taking a 13-0 lead. Little known WR Riley Ridley outperforming his star brother Calvin. Jalen Hurts struggling and getting benched for Tua Tagovailoa, a 5* freshman with a ton of potential but no real experience. An 80 yard TD pass from Georgia. An Alabama player collapsing on the sideline. 7 freshman playing on Alabama's offense. An Alabama player fighting a coach on the sideline. An INT from Bama's DT that bounced off the center's helmet. Bama tying the game on 4th down with a TD pass to Ridley, who Tua didn't even see when he threw the ball. Alabama missing a game winning 36 yard FG to end regulation.
In OT, Terrell Lewis (who missed 12 games with an injury) sacks Fromm on 3rd down to force a 52-yard FG. However Georgia makes it because apparently goggles give you that ability. Bama gets the ball, and Tua takes probably the worst sack ever, losing 16 yards. It's 2nd and 26 at the 41, Bama needs a FG to extend the game, and their kicker had already missed 2 FGs. Then Tua looks off the safety and throws a game-winning walkoff TD to Devonta Smith.
Then one of my most memorable and heartbreaking images in sports - Georgia senior RBs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel holding each other on the sideline and nearly crying because the game meant that much to them. Such a sweet win for Alabama and such a heartbreaking loss for Georgia.
Worst Game - Alabama vs LSU 2011 National Championship
I loved this as an Alabama fan, but this was horrible for everyone else. Alabama really shouldn't have even been there. No TDs were scored until late in the 4th, and LSU lost 21-0 and never even passed the 50 yard line. There's probably a worse game than this, but none were as big as this game.
Best Play - Kick Six

Worst Loss - 2016 Texas vs Kansas
Kansas was 12-60 from 2010-2015 with only 4 P5 wins. They had lost 19 straight conference games. HC David Beaty was 1-21 in 2 years, with his only win coming against FCS Rhode Island. And yet somehow Kansas actually won. I've never seen a sideline look so distraught and hopeless after a loss. Now this was a meaningless game and other teams have lost much more important games, but all of those teams at least had hope. Texas was ranked #11 after an upset win over Notre Dame to begin the season and lost to the worst team in the FBS in the same season.
Best/Worst Announcer Call - Jay Feely
What game was he watching? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DaXI4Md74M
Worst Prediction - Nussmeier plus McElwain is darn near cheating

Without that play, there's no kick six.
