The way you feel about Tua, is the same way I felt about Baker Mayfield. Sure, Kyler and Jalen are awesome, no question. But it's that one guy who elevated the fans, the game, the experience.
I'll never forget the 2018 Rose Bowl against Georgia. My Sooners win that game, they're in the National Championship. Had the Sooners had a defense, they'd probably end up victorious but it wasn't meant to be.
Basically, Baker is to me, what Tua is to you, but with +1 CFP championship.
Then maybe Saban should not have been playing Tua when Tua was still injured in a game the Tide were going to easily win anyways?
Seriously, how is Saban not getting more criticism for this? Everyone remembers the criticism Steve Kerr and the Warriors took for Durant's injury in the Finals, but apparently Saban gets off easy when putting a hurt kid into a situation he wasn't even needed? There is no way Tua should have played against Miss St., yet he did and now his season is over, his draft stock will take a hit and all for a win the Tide were going to get anyways.
Obviously Saban is never getting fired, but the fact media just ignores what happened is ridiculous.
Honestly I think he should come back one more year. If he comes out this year, while injured, there's no way he is drafted #1 overall. Hell he may slip out of the first round all-together (2nd round would be MUCH better than the end of the first round). HE can come back to form at Bama next year and get back to #1 overall status....
And as I'm typing this I realize that is a stupid idea for him. He will fall in the draft. Right to teams selecting at the end of the 1st round. Bill Belichick will need a backup QB, and what better option than snatching up a #1 overall talent between picks 29-32. He can sit behind Brady for a couple years, heal and learn behind the master.
Notre Dame didn't lose a BCS Championship game in 2013 after the 2012 season? Notre Dame didn't lose any games that season....
But if they did, Manti Te'o's had an invisible Girlfriend, and he pulled a Jesus like the day before the game. His head was not in the game. If that didn't happen.... They'd still lose because they were inferior to them that year. But it may not have been as bad.
I'd love for Tua to come back to Alabama, stay healthy the full season, win a Heisman Trophy and National Championship, and then go #1 in the draft.
However it's way too much of a risk. He absolutely shouldn't play for free and risk getting injured again and potentially lose millions of dollars.
The NFL and bad PR
Name a better duo
