I agree with 2 Stars for Captain Marvel. Underwhelming even with the decent amount of action it offered.
    Frank: Ludwig?!
    Goon: Drebin!
    Frank: Yeah, I'm Drebin!
Goon: I have a message for ya from Vincent Ludwig!
Goon: Take that, you lousy cop!
Frank: I'm sorry! I can't hear ya! Don't fire the gun while you're talking!

It's almost like they weren't showing her true potential because they're saving that for a forthcoming film.

What's everyone's thoughts on Shazam? I thought it was one of DC's better films.

Even though critics have eaten it up, there wasn't a whole lotta love for Shazam! at the box office. It only took in estimated $53.5 million in North America this weekend. Including the take from it's Thursday release, that brings its domestic total to roughly $56.8 million. It took in another $102 million internationally for a worldwide take so far of $158.8 million. To be perfectly honest, I'd say they're pretty disappointed with that and it's a surprise to me; frankly, I thought the movie would do somewhere in the vicinity of $100 million its opening weekend here in North America. It's gotten strong reviews among critics, a 91% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes, but it doesn't seem to have translated into tons of love from moviegoers. The six previous DCEU movies had an average worldwide take of $845.7 million and Shazam! will probably only pull in, in my estimation, around half that.

Still, it's gotten pretty glowing reviews and with a budget of $100 million, they're not going to lose money. You also have to take into account that he isn't anywhere near as well known as DC heavyweights like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman & the Flash.

A whole lot of people seen the movie 2 weeks ago when Fandango had their advanced screenings. That's when I seen the movie and the theatre I was in was packed to capacity. They were showing it twice at that particular theatre and it was sold out for both. I know here in Vegas there were 6 theatres doing the advanced Fandango showing and everyone of them were sold out.

Idk if that factors in or not but if those screenings were sold out all across the nation that probably played a role in the low domestic totals.

Cute film. Liked the nineties-throwback-iness of it (even though, you know, those films typically weren't very good).

I am. Took a friend who also was. Both thought it was borderline unwatchable.

Any particular reason why? Most Dragon Ball fans I've spoken too or read reviews from online seemed to love the movie. Myself included.

In addition to it just generally being boring and poorly written we both thought the animation was horrendous. The models were all over the place, the fights were barely choreographed and it getting psychedelic towards the end felt more like them surrendering any attempt to keep track of geography rather than pursuing spectacle (just as well because the 3D stuff was even uglier than the 2D stuff).

I entirely did and very much enjoyed it. Definitely more frightening than Get Out but not as clean, narratively or thematically. But I did forget I'd watched it so take that for what you will.
