Petite Maman didn't quite blow me away like Portrait of a Lady on Fire but it came close.

Spencer seems less concerned with historical fact and more with being an extended audiovisual metaphor. I like it.

Is it fair to say that it was the best in-movie tribute to a deceased actor/character ever? It was as if it was written as a tribute to Harold Ramis.

West Side Story, I'm guessing you're talking about the new one? or the old one? Or does it really matter since I'm pretty sure it's the same thing just with new actors.

I absolutely adored SpiderMan: No Way Home (probably my favorite Marvel Movie yet). And you hit the nail on the head with Encanto, as it was an enjoyable film that I feel like I barely remember now 3 weeks or so after watching it. middle of the pack.

Hands up, I've never seen the original West Side Story. I just thought the new one was hugely impressive. My girlfriend argues that it broke her immersion every time someone did like a threatening pirouette in the middle of a knife fight; I think it just goes with the territory. Divisive.

I mean if she's still immersed in the story when the gangs start singing and dancing in the middle of the streets I wanna know what gangs she is familiar with. That's more immersion-ruining than the knife dancing.

Musicals are not at all about immersion.
