Roseanne Canceled After Roseanne Barr Sends Out Racist Tweet

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/...er-ape-n878171

So after sending out a tweet saying that one of Obama's advisers looked like the child of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes, the ratings hit revival of Roseanne was abruptly canceled after having been renewed for a second season. Of course this is the product of someone saying something stupid and getting in trouble for it, as she should. However, given that Trump has taken credit for the ratings (Barr is an outspoken Trump supporter) and Barr is one of the biggest conservative comediennes around, how bad do you think the reactions will be?

It was a dumb tweet, and ABC were in their right to cancel the show. I couldn't imagine the PR nightmare Disney (parent company) would suffer if they allowed it.

I'm sure the right wing conspirators are out in force today over this.

Roseanne Barr's always had a big mouth and it's gotten her into trouble at various times in the past, but this is a new era and some thing just won't be tolerated. It was an idiotic thing to tweet and the ones I feel sorry for are the rest of the cast and crew.

Off an on, I've read a few comments today regarding how it violates free speech and all that and it always makes my head hurt that people in this day and age still don't grasp the basic fundamentals of what free speech is. Roseanne had every right under the Constitution to say what she said, as idiotic as it was, without having the cops bust down her door and haul her to jail. She didn't encourage anyone to go out and break the law, nor did she instruct others to commit criminal acts, hence her speech is protected from criminal prosecution. However, her right to free speech doesn't protect her from whatever consequences come down on her head due to exercising her right to free speech. Somedays, I wanna call my boss a 190 pound sack of monkey puss, but I don't. Know why? Not because I did or said anything that was against the law, but because I insulted the man who has the power and authority to wish me well in my future endeavors, or AKA fire my dumb ass. If I go to social media and start tossing out racial slurs, then I'd have to face whatever consequences might come about in my professional or personal life.

I'm sure at the production company that owns the show will try to shop it around eventually, don't be surprised to see it get picked up by Fox in a year or so.

She is a trashbag, always was. I enjoyed her the least of any character on that show. I would simply kill her off and change the name to "Dan." Problem solved.

Hundreds of jobs lost because she couldn't keep her big fat mouth shut and couldn't resist sharing her bigotry views. Pathetic...

I'm surprised she has been on air this long.

Having never watched the show I don't know if its any good etc. But it sucks for all the other people on the show. Surely they could have just fired her and kept it going. I know John Goodman is on it, couldn't they just change it to his character?

I'm not overly familiar with the show, but it would be like having Seinfeld without Seinfeld. Sure, you have Jason Alexander and some other talented cast members, but the focal point of the show is gone.

The Thick Of It was more fortunate, in that when the main star of the first two seasons was convicted of having child pornography, they could then focus the series on Malcolm Tucker; because the show was not predicated on Chris Langham's character.

Never compare Roseanne to Jerry Seinfeld. She was the worst character on the show. She could easily be written out and no one would care.

Like I said, I'm not familiar with Roseanne. But I always prefered Elaine, Costanza and Kramer (before Michael Richards went crazy) to Jerry.
