    ROH-NJPW Supershow Sells Out

ROH and New Japan have another reason to crow. Aside from being the first non-WWE wrestling card to go down in Madison Square Garden since 1957, the G1 Supercard is officially sold out. A WWE sellout at MSG is usually around 15,000 fans for a house show, which is also what ROH has configured for this event, so they had sold around 9,000 to HonorClub members. The remaining tickets went on sale to the general public at 10am ET earlier today and ROH has already sold out the show for April 6, 2019 during WrestleMania weekend and it will air opposite the NXT TakeOver special on the same night. Tickets originally ranged from $30-$300, and those already on the secondary market are going for $90-$1000.

You know, I mean you just know, that this puts a burr of Vince McMahon's ass. WWE has been the only wrestling company to perform at MSG since his father formed the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, which would eventually be renamed the World Wide Wrestling Federation in 1963. Vince was able to successfully block an ROH show from taking place in MSG not long ago and, allegedly, the reason MSG officials were going to allow the show to happen was because WWE hardly plays the Garden anymore. So, evidently, things fell through and unless some other venue comes along between now and then, this will be ROH's most attended show.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why is that? Couldn't they stream it on Twitch or somewhere else with no troubles?

It's absurdly expensive to broadcast from MSG. The last time WWE did it was for a Network special two(??) years ago. As for televised broadcasts, the last one I remember was headlined by DX vs Jeri-Show vs Cena and Undertaker. All that despite having countless live events at the Garden.

I dont think ROH goes under, but they'd take a huge hit and they know it. This is a costly shot across the bow of WWE, but could be worthwhile in the long run.
