Harley Race vs. Mike Kelly

Kelly would once again be Shane Douglas. That’s the good thing about jobbers: no one cares enough to remember their faces. Race beats him up like Shane is some loudmouthed guy that had one famous moment and was then made into some kind of hero in a glorified indy company because he threw down a title that didn’t mean anything and has tried to make a career out of that for almost twenty years since because he simply wasn’t good enough to make it big anywhere else but a dying WCW who would take ANYBODY. Fisherman’s suplex ends this quick.

Killer Kross going to MLW seems like a downgrade. Did the way he conducted himself at Impact put WWE and AEW off him?

I imagine it's easy to dislike Shane Douglas. To hear Douglas tell it, he's more talented and would've drawn more money than Bruno, Flair and Hogan combined were it not for the industry wide conspiracy against him. Douglas is a guy with a big mouth and an even bigger ego who lashed out at anyone who didn't treat him as if he was the Second Coming and was one of the first guys of the modern era, modern as in guys who came along during the 90s, who really perfected the "I'm not the one with the problem, it's everyone else" strategy. He's not the first to do it and just about every wrestler with a chip on his or her shoulder employs a variation of the same strategy, but wrestlers tend to paint themselves always as the good guy while dealing with assholes backstage in both the locker room and the board room. That's been his MO for decades now and burned bridges in WWE, WCW, the NWA, ECW, Impact, ROH and just about every other significant company the last 25 years that he's worked for. A major falling out took place, he puts ALL the blame onto everyone else while painting himself as the white knight who was screwed over because someone more politically connected saw him as a threat and had him essentially neutralized. It's always easier to blame the world at large than to even acknowledge the possibility, even if it's just to one's self, that maybe, just maybe, they're not as good as they believe they are.

That's not to say that there's not at least SOME truth to his accusations at various points in time. It's just that Douglas was ALWAYS the victim, ALWAYS the one who was targeted, ALWAYS the threat because he spoke his mind. At the same time though, Douglas frequently tries to gloss over the fact that he was a loud mouthed, antagonistic prick who rubbed people, sometimes the WRONG people, the wrong way and didn't always go about conducting himself in ways that were conducive to long term success.

20 was as well. And no real reason that I know of. 17 and 18 were the only ones in stadiums for a long time so it wasn't exactly a tradition yet.
