So it's a Rams - Patriots Superb Owl?

Yeah Saints blaming that game solely on the refs would be stupid. Besides, last year had to be harder on them.
And NFL overtime is way better than it used to be.
It is better, but I would still prefer something more akin to college rules. At the very least let teams go the full field once each. People have cited that LSU/A&M game as a safety issue with college overtime rules, but that was an outlier.
The simple solution to NFL Overtime rules is that both teams are guaranteed a possession. Literally the only change you make is to remove the "the game ends on an opening drive Touchdown" bullshit. First team gets the ball, scores a TD, and the other team receives a kickoff needing to score. Not difficult at all. 10 minute period for regular season and if it's tied still, the game ends in a tie.
And the Saints did get robbed, but they were outplayed, and they screwed themselves with the playcalls (throwing on 1st down was stupid, and necessitated the 3rd down throw). Hand the ball off 3 times and you're good. Maybe do one of those Taysum Hill taking the snap plays as well. If they don't get the first down then they drain all the timeouts, and the clock some.
People do care, but blaming the refs for a loss is an easy way out when your team didn't play as well as they could have. There are plenty of fingers to point at the Saints' performance on the field, one blown call, no matter how bad it was, wasn't the reason they lost. And there were calls in that game that benefited the Saints. It isn't like that one play was the only call that favored either team. At one points the Saints had a delay of game that wasn't called and they got to run a play. This isn't the NBA rigging games, good teams will find ways to overcome a couple of bad calls.
"The refs didn't do their job properly but tbf the team coulda played better." When do we hold officials accountable for blown calls that impact the game then?
And OT being determined by essentially a coin flip is bogus. What a night.
Bottom line: Andy Reid can't win the big ones.
Saints won the coin toss and lost. Pats won the coin toss and won. Sounds like 50/50 to me.
