I liked the Mighty's turn a while back but they seem to have lost some steam since then. Burch and Lorcan are, against the odds, now pretty over, and I could go for them getting a run. Although they already came up short against TUE, perhaps it might be better to put another team up at the front of the division for now.

We’re back to Full Sail this week after taking last week’s show off for the sake of a week in San Jose, California. You could get some fun stuff this time around as well and a lot of that is due to starting the build towards Takeover: Phoenix. There are a bunch of ways the card could go and each one of them could be a lot of fun. Let’s get to it.

Last week’s show saw the main event scene get a shot in the arm as Johnny Gargano and Aleister Black agreed to keep things going inside a steel cage, much to Tommaso Ciampa’s delight. Ciampa continues to be a great devil on the shoulder and someone who could be on top of the company for a long time to come. As for tonight though, Ricochet is in action against a mystery opponent, which could mean a lot of things. Let’s get to it.

I popped huge for Tyler Breeze. Ricochet defending against WWE main roster stars en route to Mania weekend would be a damn good storyline. Dillinger, Mojo, Harper, maybe capping off with a non NXT name like Orton at TakeOver. Excuse me while I daydream.

It looks like the Mighty have gone the way of the dinosaurs as Nick Miller requested and was given his release from NXT. Miller recently returned to Australia for the birth of his baby and has apparently decided to stay. I've personally enjoyed the Mighty's matches, but they seemed destined for the mid-card doldrums in NXT and that probably wouldn't have changed when/if they made it to the main roster considering how we've seen teams like AOP and the Revival utilized. Shane Thorne is still signed with NXT and MAYBE he's someone that could move up in the singles ranks over time; at 6'2 and about 225-230 lbs., he has a good look, is pretty athletic and has some decent charisma though, as I said, it'll take a while before anything, if ever, really comes of him I think as NXT simply has so many talented guys in Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black, the Undisputed Era, the Velveteen Dream, Ricochet, British Strong Style whenever they drop by, etc..

It was getting to be sink or swim time for the Mighty. Their stay in NXT was extended by Shane Thorne's injury while left them completely unexposed. Seriously, I don't even think Miller got any TV time that whole time. As noted, Thorne's got a good look to him, and this might be the best thing for his own career to start fresh as a singles guy. I'm glad Miller was able to leave on amicable terms with the WWE, though. Sounds like the door is open, and if NXT gets footing in Australia (alleged goal of Triple H), a reunited Mighty Don't Kneel is a nice in-ring catalyst for that.

We’ve got a pair of big matches this week, starting with Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke making their in-ring debuts against Io Shirai and Dakota Kai. Other than that though we have Johnny Gargano vs. Aleister Black inside of a steel cage. You don’t get these things very often in NXT and that alone makes it feel more special. Let’s get to it.

I'm fine with that, as long as you take the title off Ciampa and put ut on someone not in the match. Like Adam Cole or Matt Riddle.
