Because the current roster sucks compared to back then.

So we just push Goldberg, Lesnar, and Undertaker until they can barely walk and then WWE goes out of business? What happens when those guys retire?
Goldberg/Roman wouldn't quite be Rock/Hogan, but it ticked all the boxes of an intergenerational dream match and didn't need a title to make it big.
Meanwhile, Cena could have chased championship #17 while Bray had to defend himself from the man who planted the seeds that grew to destroy his life, forcing him to inevitably rebuild himself.
Oh well then.

Or Cena/Goldberg for the Title will be bigger than Goldberg/Roman. And Reigns/Fiend can be non-title, which is better for the feud. None of us work for WWEs creative team and as such we have zero idea what will happen at WrestleMania until told. We have our own ideas built by reading made-up stuff on the internet.
Meh, if Roman/Berg didn't need a title then Cena/Berg really doesn't.
The angle I proposed for Cena and the Fiend is practically built in with only a little embellishment on my part. Maybe Creative has something cool in store but paint-by-numbers seems more like Smackdown's process lately.
And the people who booed Reigns will now boo him again. WWE continues to have no idea what good booking for this guy is.
Iâ??m not defending how it happened, but Wyatt really doesnâ??t need a title.
