And yet their tag division is almost as bad as their women?s division. They stuck the titles on two singles competitors because they can?t figure out who to stick them on. They?re too dedicated on not throwing them on the YBs, but they don?t have any other teams they?re high enough on to commit to. Maybe they could start here with a heel champion.
Lucha Bros are. Before COVID, they joined up with PAC to form a stable called Death Triangle.
So are LAX, they're in the inner circle.
Oh. Last time I saw LAX it was 2 different people.
I disagree with this assessment. Melts is way of base calling it the GOATag Divisions but it's still pretty stacked.
And yes, it's unfortunate that the tag titles are on two singles wrestlers but I think that's more indicative of the problem that they don't know what to do with Kenny Omega and Adam Page.
With who?
The champs we already discussed.
Lucha Bros- barely seen since COVID. Also thrown into yet another stable with PAC, probably because they can?t cut a promo. Only guessing because I don?t think I?ve heard them speak.
Pride and Powerful - don?t like the name, but they would be a good starting point for a heel tag champs. In yet another stable.
Jurassic Express - fun team, but hard to take seriously with Marko Stunt.
Young Bucks - just waiting for them to get in the championship picture. Spent most of their tenure working in another stable feud.
SCU - inaugural champs. Didn?t last long. Good hands though.
Butcher and Blade - fine heel team. At least they?re in an actual tag team feud.
Dark Order - yet another stable. Their stories have more centered around recruiting than anything. See: SCU, Colt Cabana and a few others.
Best Friends - they?re ok, but are you noticing an abundance of three man teams? Some would also consider them stables.
Private Party - not used that much. Seem like a good team though.
There?s also that other team, Joey Janela and the guy who I can?t remember. Two guys thrown together.
Also, their tag team matches might as well be declared as bedlam matches. A few weeks ago I saw them tag after they already came through the ropes. So, in short, if you consider quantity a measure of success, I guess you got something going.
AEW has 4 main event level tag teams right now: The Bucks, FTR, Lucha Bros, and Page/Omega.
5 teams that can, at the very least, be considered contenders: SCU, Jurassic Express, Santana/Ortiz, Best Friends, and the Dark Order.
And 3 lower level teams: Kiss/Janela, Butcher/Blade, *Private Party (who could easily become champions with some backing).
It's a very good tag division in my opinion. Deep and filled with capable to extremely capable teams. I mean, they're not the greatest promos or anything, but I don't necessarily think that's AEW's style anyway, for better or worse.
