What works for a tiny little audience very rarely works for a larger audience in wrestling.

That and they just banked on the assumption the crowd knew what the gimmick was right away. Matt loses like... three matches and then is "broken" or "woken" and goes off his rocker? It was just a forced garbage transition and transitioned right into the killer of all momentum in Bray Wyatt.
