    1. The cruiserweights had never been done before, at least not on that kind of a stage. It worked because it was different and they were allowed to wrestle their own style on Nitro, not tucked away on a show that WWE has all but said doesn't matter.

    2. Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Juventud Guerrera, Dean Malenko, Syxx, Billy Kidman, Psychosis and about two dozen more.

How can that NOT be a huge success???

For next year? Cena vs. Undertaker with Cena winning title #17 and retiring Undertaker for real.

IMO, one reason could be that the CW Division of WCW had the full support of the company behind it. These wrestlers were encouraged...so long as they stayed within their lane and didn't try to or expect to move further on up the roster. It also helped that these guys were allowed to just go all out with all their various different styles.

WCW's CW Division also had something special on its side: it had the novelty of being unique. A LOT of wrestling fans in America hadn't been exposed to this sort of high energy, high paced wrestling style before. They especially hadn't seen some of the crazy spots that guys like Mysterio were able to pull off, and pull off with such precision I might add, so when you factor all that together, it's not surprising that WCW's Cruiserweight matches were often the wrestling highlight of Monday nights, that's including Raw in the picture.

As I alluded to, however, the honchos at WCW, which you might as well include wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, essentially figured the Cruiserweights were the smoke but Hogan, Savage, Flair, Hall, Nash, Sting, Luger, etc. were the fire. It eventually got to the point where Cruiserweights, including guys like Mysterio, Guerrero, Benoit and Jericho, wanted to move up the card but that wasn't happening. Jericho will tell anyone at the drop of a hat he was told by guys like Nash to just wrestle his matches, draw his pay and keep his mouth shut. From about May 1996 through probably about mid-August or so of 1999 were the peak years of the CW Division in WCW. Once the title was put onto Lenny Lane in August of 1999, and stripped from him about 1.5 months later due to execs at Turner Broadcasting not liking the sort of publicity being generated by Lane's gay character, the title started going downhill. WCW then started having champions like Disco Inferno, Madusa, Oklahoma, the Artist, Crowbar, Daffney, etc. and interest from fans was gone.

In WWE, Vince was never and never has been a fan of weight divisions, which is understandable as they've never really gained traction in the United States. WWE's own CW Division during the Attitude Era and 2000s was mostly just a low level mid-card title that no real effort or thought was put into. They'd book some matches, some guy would get the title, he'd hold onto it for a while and then he'd drop it to someone else. As for the modern CW Division in WWE, it had issues from the beginning as Vince and Kevin Dunn basically hijacked it from Triple H and it's only been recently that Triple H has been given direct control over it again, but the damage has already been done. It's suffered from roughly 3 years of having Vince and Dunn in charge of it and it hasn't really caught on. To be fair, however, wrestling fans are now much more accustomed to the faster paced style as it's pretty much everywhere now, it's not 1996 anymore and thanks to the marvels of technology, wrestling fans in America and all over the world are now exposed to more different styles than ever before. Still though, a CW Division is probably going to be more of a niche thing for WWE as, again, weight divisions don't really have a lot of traction in America.

With that being said, I think the division is better off being part of NXT and that's where it should've been from the start. I'd just do away with 205 Live altogether as a lot of fans just don't really appreciate it, yet the NXT crowds do so there you go.

Do you think Michael Cole is underrated? Not by the WWE itself, but by fans?

Probably not, but with the amount of money they have, it wouldn't shock me.

Moxley wanted to make an impact and attacked him after the Double or Nothing main event.

Yeah he is. He's been doing Raw longer than JR and fans are going to miss him when he's gone.

What are your thought on NXT on usa so far? Are you still loving it or do you prefer when it was taped?

Asuka seems like a possibility but the more I think about it, the more I think it's Rousey.

It's still great but the extra hour hasn't helped things and having to watch it after Dynamite hurts things as well. Just too much in one night.
