Randy Moss - 982 catches, 15292 yards, 156 TD, 4x First Team All Pro

There's no argument for Moss.

Clemson/Bama are the 2 top teams (what else is new). But they need to get 4 for the CFP (it should be 8 this year but that's a different story for a different day). Bama 1, Clemson 2. Ohio State will likely go to 3. Who's 4?

A&M got blown out by Bama, ND by Clemson. Cincy is unbeaten. Those are the 3 that should be considered.

Notre Dame should be in even with this loss. The Clemson win is the best win of all 3 teams schedules.

I saw someone on Twitter say that Oregon would then get in and if they win they would be an undeserving champion. Well if Oregon got in (as Pac-12 champ they'd be guaranteed) then they'd beat Alabama, Clemson, and whoever else, so they'd be deserving.

They also should get rid of divisions in the conference. Everyone plays their entire conference every year (I'd max conferences at 12 teams) and 1 Non-conference game. Top 2 in the Conference Championship.

There's no reason for them anymore, they're good for limiting travel, but that is a non-issue for these billion dollar institutions now. Also if everyone plays everyone in the conference you can't complain about strength of schedule, and with guaranteed CFP slots you should want the top 2 in what is in essence a play-in game.

There's an old ideal that you never give your opponent bulletin board material. By dancing on the opponents logo right before the game you're doing that.

Is there a problem with it, no. It is bad because your opponents (who already are gonna go after you because football) will now go even harder because you disrespected them. All for selfish gains (it's not for the Pissburgh Stealers Tik Tok, it's for his personal one that he likely monitized.

His coach is gonna talk to him about it because he is hurting the team by doing it.

Lets put it this way. Terrell Owens posed on the Dallas Cowboys star. It was a massive issue because it incited the opponents to go after him. This is identical, and it shows a massive lack of sportsmanship, which the Pissburgh Stealers pretend matters to them.

I don't see the logic in bulletin board material and extra motivation. Were the Bengals not going to give 100% effort and do everything they could to win until an opponent danced on their logo and posted a video to TikTok?

Josh Rosen never really got a fair shake. He started badly (not unlike a lot of rookies, especially on shit teams), and they got rid of him instead of letting him grow.

Josh Rosen is now on San Fran after being signed from the Bucs Practice Squad.

I don't blame people for thinking Rosen was the better choice than Allen. Allen's a small school guy, who had some off field questions (I recall he had some bad tweets exposed leading up to the draft). It just goes to show how much of a crapshoot the NFL Draft is every year with virtually every player that ever comes out (even in 2020).

Oh yes he was bad. But a lot of rookies are bad, he had bad coaching in Arizona, then got sent to Miami (2nd offensive coordinator in 2 years so he's starting over), and only got a few games before he was benched.

The Cardinals did the right thing. They got 1.1 and saw a QB the new coach wanted to work with. And Miami (who gave up a lot for him) gave up on him and managed to get their guy.

QB 1 - 250/327, 76.4%, 3739 Yards, 11.4 YPA, 32 TD, 4 INT, 202.3 Rating

QB 2 - 285/409, 69.7%, 4125 Yards, 10.1 YPA, 43 TD, 5 INT, 186.7 Rating

QB 3 - 198/286, 69.2%, 2753 Yards, 9.6 YPA, 22 TD, 4 INT, 172.7 Rating

The QBs in order are Mac Jones, Kyle Trask, and Trevor Lawrence. Mac has the efficiency. Trask has the volume. What does Lawrence have?

The most common argument is Notre Dame beat Clemson without Lawrence, which doesn't prove anything. Alabama would've lost to Florida without Mac Jones. Florida would've lost a few without Trask.

They got it right but you can't use Bowl results to say who should be in the CFP. Honestly those 3 all should have had a shot but they combined to have zero chance of getting in.

At the end of the day until Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney are gone they are 1 and 2 in perpetuity. A couple schools will have a good year or 2, but that's it.

Alabama's 5 star recruits are 4x more likely to go to the NFL than everyone else's.

Players would rather sit for 2-3 years, play for the best coaching staff, and win a National Championship than start immediately for an inferior school.

They'd rather sit for their entire careers and never get to the NFL instead of actually getting on the field and proving yourself?

If Alabama gets the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th QB, At least one of them, and most likely 2 of them, will never play. As such they will NOT get drafted. A free transfer would allow them to get out to another P5 School to start, and thus prove yourself and get drafted.

I'll use the 2016 recruiting class for example

Ben Davis - Total bust, never started or transferred
Mack Wilson - 2nd year starter
Jonah Williams - 1st year starter
B.J. Emmons - Transferred to Florida Atlantic, couldn't start there
Terrell Lewis - 2nd year starter
Shyheim Carter - 4th year starter
Raekwon Davis - 2nd year starter
Charles Baldwin - Kicked off team
Trevon Diggs - 3rd year starter
Jared Mayden - 4th year starter
Quinnen Williams - 3rd year starter
Deonte Brown - 3rd year starter
Chris Owens - Started the playoffs once Dickerson went down
Jalen Hurts - 1st year starter
Scott Lashley - Transferred to Mississippi State, couldn't start there
T.J. Simmons - Transferred to West Virginia, will go undrafted
Miller Forristall - 4th year starter
Josh Jacobs - Split carries in year 3, was injured year 2
Jamar King - Never started or transferred
Irv Smith - 2nd year starter
Aaron Robinson - Transferred to UCF, will go undrafted
Shawn Jennings - Transferred to South Alabama, will go undrafted
Joe Donald - Never started or transferred

Of our 23 commits, 13 started, 11 made/will make the NFL, 5 transferred and will go undrafted, 4 stayed and never started, 1 was kicked off the team.

What other school puts ~50% of their players in the NFL?

In Nick Saban's 14 years at Alabama, only 3 players transferred and made the NFL - Alvin Kamara, Kendall Sheffield, and Jalen Hurts. Both Kamara and Sheffield would've started eventually. Hurts started for 2 years.

Storm Trooper

The 5 that transferred had to sit out a year. thus making the upper echelon schools unwilling to consider them. Or they were graduate transfers and thus have only 1 year of eligibility left.

The 4 that didn't transfer would have had the same issues.

Allowing a free transfer means major schools would be willing to take a chance on them, and thus they will get the chance to prove themselves. Spend a year at Bama, then once you win and you aren't gonna start you transfer and other major schools will consider you.

I didn't realize how good Kyren Williams was.

oh the kid's a beast. And he's only in his 2nd year so he's got at least one more season.

As great as he is at running the ball, his ability to pick up the blitz in the Clemson win is the stuff of legend. I'd argue he was better than most NFL backs at it.
Kyren Williams is absolutely fantastic. Rarely goes down on the first hit, has a great ability to find a hole, and like ST said, he's great in the pass blocking. I'd argue he's definitely one of the best players in college football.

Also, while I 100% understand it wouldn't have mattered in the end, it would have been nice if the referees had called at least ONE of the holding calls they ignored in the first half on Alabama. There were plenty to choose from, just pick one. Offense or defense, I wouldn't have cared.

Final thoughts on the season:

Jake Fromm and Justin Fields each won 1 playoff game.

Trey Sermon was injured on Ohio State's first series. Players get injured when they play more than 7 games.

Alabama lost: 1st round QB, 1st round WR (x2), 1st round LT, top 3 pass rushers (2nd-3rd rounders), 3/4 DBs (2 2nd rounders) and got better on offense and defense.

Mac Jones had one of the most dominant QB seasons ever and was more efficient than Joe Burrow last season, yet Devonta Smith was the best player on the field in nearly every game since Jaylen Waddle was injured. Mac Jones vs Ohio State - 36/45, 464 Yds, 5 TD. He didn't win offensive MVP.

The non-Alabama national champions since 2007 (Nick Saban's first year at Alabama) have had either an elite QB (2008 Florida, 2010 Auburn, 2013 FSU, 2016 Clemson, 2018 Clemson, 2019 LSU) or elite offensive skill players (2014 Ohio State). Cam Newton was as close to a one-man show as you're going to find, but the other champions had elite recruiting. In the average year, fewer than 5 programs have a real chance at winning it all.

He wanted out because he knew his team and organization were shit. And using 1 pick as a test study is not a good example. Honestly, I don?t care what the reason is, the Jets are in serious turmoil. I?m not hating on them. Hell, my team is bad because they moved up to pick a shit QB. I openly admitted on FB I hoped they?d trade for Darnold when the Jets were in line for the #1 pick. Darnold has potential. The problem is everywhere else around him and the defense is garbage. Jamal Adams threw the biggest hissy fit of all time when someone asked Joe Douglas if Jamal Adams was on the trading block and he said that while he isn't he listens to offers for virtually everybody (as any GM would do).

The GM is not the problem he got there like 2 months after the Draft in 2019. He did not do Free Agency (where his predecesor spent a ton of money stupidly) or the Draft in 2019 (the 3rd round pick from that year got cut after Training Camp), and now had to tear away the crap to rebuild. Jets will have either the most cap space or 2nd most, 2 1's and 2 3's this year, and 2 1's next year. They're in a great position to turn this around quickly, with someone who knows how to build a team and comes from a background of winning (he worked in Baltimore and won a title in Philly).

The 2020 team literally has 1 person drafted from 2016, 1 from 2017, and 4 from 2018.

Jets major issue is ownership, but Charles Johnson seems to be a vast improvement over Woody Johnson (I'm not saying he's good). Woody is coming back from his Ambassadorship but will apparently not run the day-to-day operations anymore.

What I'm trying to say is that yes, the Jets WERE in serious turmoil, but they're on the way out of it.

I gotta be honest, I have no recollection of what team you root for. Based on moving up to pick a shit QB, is it WFT, Bears, Rams, Eagles?

Lol born and raised in Chicago. I?m not sure I agree with the past tense about turmoil. They have holes EVERYWHERE. I honestly think Sam Darnold can be a good NFL quarterback, but his line sucks and he has little to throw to. If I?m right in my opinion, you have the biggest piece you need, but he needs major help. Oh and picking Bell was a mistake. At least he?s gone. And I think the Jags are your competition on cap space. That?s why I don?t think that head coach job is completely bad. You?ve got Trevor Lawrence and a crap load of money to buy players.

The Jets have talent at WR, Mims, Crowder, and Perriman all got hurt and missed significant time. Plus the Darnold injuries killed any chances at building a strong rapport with them. Perriman will be gone but Mims and Crowder are both back. Add an elite receiver to the mix (sign Allen Robinson or draft DeVonte Smith) and they'll be awesome.

With regards tot he line, Sign a free agent Lineman (Joe Thuney from New England is a Free Agent), and draft another lineman at 23.

With regards to the defense, add an elite pass rusher either by drafting one at 2 (or trade back) or by signing one (obviously do the opposite of what you do at WR). Draft a corner at 2.2 and sign another corner. Don't release CJ Moseley (he'll be back after opting out this year) and re-sign Marcus Maye.

Maye, Moseley, Quinnen Williams, a pass rusher, and an upgrade at starting corners would be a great start for a defense. Sure is it a bunch of steps yes, but with the cap space and draft capital it should be doable.

He has never coached in the NFL before. I don't get why everyone thinks this guy is automatically the greatest choice to be an NFL coach.

I'm not saying it'll be a catastrophic failure but I wouldn't be surprised if it bombs. It definitely won't be pretty on the way out, as both his Florida and Ohio State tenures ended rather ugly.

Jets have hired Robert Saleh as their Head Coach.

I love it. The guy is a motivator and an elite coach. Apparently he is bringing Mike Lafleur as his OC.

Jets really hit a home run here. I did like Bieniemy but Saleh was up there. Bieniemy is screwed as he cannot interview until the Cheifs are eliminated, and most teams will likely fill their vacancies before he can be announced (or interveiwed in-person).

Well if he threw a 14 yard completion to Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, or

Plus if they're playing the run and he successfully rolls out it's smooth sailing.

I hate to say it but Drew Brees is done. Time for him to leave the Saints for NBC and Notre Dame Football broadcasts.

I'm glad I picked the Bucs. Beating a team 3 times is not easy, and this Bucs team is gelling at the right time. Next week will be interesting.

On another note, does anyone else want to see the Packers/Chiefs in the Super Bowl so we can have Jake From State Farm do the coin toss?

^I don't want to see "elite white person" Jake Fromm

The only question is if Drew Brees is first ballot or not. I think he is, but there's usually a logjam of talent.

One thing that stands out to me is the amount of heartbreaking playoff losses/losing seasons in the prime of his career.

2010 - Beast Quake, defense gives up 41 to the 7-9 Seahawks
2011 - Vernon Davis TD with :09 left, 4 lead changes in final 4 minutes
2012, 14-16 - Carried the team on his back, didn't finish .500
2017 - Minneapolis Miracle
2018 - Nickell Robey-Coleman Missed PI Call

What Tom Brady has done is insane. He's went to the conference championship in 2/3 of his career.

Drew Brees is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Doesn't matter if there's a logjam of talent waiting 5 years from now. He's in right away, much like Peyton Manning. Besides I doubt there'll be 7 other first ballot Hall of Famers retiring this season. Aside from Frank Gore and Tom Brady, who else that could potentially retire this season is gonna be Hall of Fame bound?

And just to be sure I never said anything about Jake Fromm, the racist idiot. I was talking about the character from the TV commercials with Rodgers and Mahomes. Seeing all this Fromm talk just need to make sure.

ESPN is nothing more than a glorified TMZ. Everything has to be about "hot takes", because that's what sells advertising.

They do have some decent reporters. It just depends on the shows you watch. I?m becoming increasingly disappointed in PTI, because they scream BS too much(they didn?t used to), but, ironically, now Around the Horn is becoming a better show to watch. Used to be a complete 180.

I get what you?re saying on Stephen A. Smith(apologize for the the assumption, but he?s the prime example) but I realized a long time ago he?s playing a character. Ironically enough, since he made his big contract with ESPN, he?s calmed down. Now it?s Max Kellerman that?s filled that role. ?Say stupid shit. Defend it. ATH has always been a fun show for me, I loved it when they were at home because they only had 3 panelists and Tony Reali (who is my 2nd favorite ESPN person behind Ryan Ruocco). With 4 panelists and Reali it can be a bit too cluttered. PTI's biggest issue for me was when they decided to ignore the clock and just talk about a topic for as long as they felt like (and the 5 minute interviews were also usually a good segment). Having a hard out meant they couldn't go too in depth (and thus too hot take-y). Also they got rid of all the fun games they did.

Max Kellerman sits opposite of Stephen A. He?s practically turned into him. Smith has calmed down a lot since he got his contract. He?s pretty reasonable, at least if you compare him to Kellerman. Maybe that?ll change when Smith approaches his contract year. I guess we?ll see.

As for the games today, Bills were overmatched. Bucs won a good game, but I don?t think they can beat the Chiefs. If Belichick was the coach of the Bucs, I?d give them a better chance, but probably not. They did run over the Packers during the season. If their defense shows up, that?s their best chance.

As a newbie watch the Green Bay game last night it looked to me like Green Bay blew multiple chances. They had 3 interceptions in a row that they failed to turn into anything and that killed their momentum. The field goal was a strange call too given the time on the clock.

Green Bay blew it by falling asleep either side of half time and not taking 3 golden opportunities.

You're spot on. They blew the end of the first half allowing the Touchdown pass, and the 3 interceptions needed to result in points. Unfortunately for Green Bay Tampa's Defense played incredibly.

And kicking the Field Goal to give TOM FREAKING BRADY the ball with 2 minutes left was just the stupidest thing ever. There are literally 31 other starting QBs I'd give the ball to in that situation before giving it to Brady.

I was talking to NorCal and basically I was telling him that it doesn't matter if they have official player names/likeness, because A) custom rosters will "fix" that and B) after a few years of Dynasty mode, all the original guys are gone anyways.

I'm definitely looking forward to this. EA has already confirmed it will NOT be 2021. So I'm hoping summer 2022.
